City advises of critical electricity upgrades in Plumstead, surrounds

The City advises residents of Plumstead, Wynberg and surrounds of upcoming critical electricity supply interruptions for infrastructure upgrades and maintenance, which will be carried out during May and June 2026. The areas impacted could also include Grassy Park, Lotus River, Ottery, Wetton, Fairways, Wynberg, Rosmead, Parkwood and Southfield. To view the area outage map visit: https://bit.ly/3OCin0m . The planned maintenance in Plumstead, Wynberg and surrounds on Saturday 16 May 2026 will take place on Saturday 23 May 2026. The City thanks residents for their support.

The proactive upgrades are essential to enhance the quality and reliability of electricity supply by strengthening the City’s medium-voltage network in Plumstead and surrounding areas. It is important to note that interruptions to supply will only impact the areas on the map and only on the relevant dates. The work will be carried out from 20:00 until 08:00 the next day, if all goes to plan. Alternate dates are also provided should the work not go ahead as planned, weather dependent. The maintenance will be carried out on:

  • Saturday 16 May 2026 or 23 May 2026
  • Saturday 20 June 2026 or 27 June 2026

The outage may also impact parts of the following areas, among others:

  • Plumstead
  • Grassy Park
  • Lotus River
  • Ottery
  • Wetton
  • Fairways
  • Wynberg
  • Rosmead
  • Parkwood
  • Southfield

The electricity supply could be restored at any time and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation.
